Taransaud Tonnellerie
Patience, rigour and respect are the hallmarks of the TARANSAUD cooperage approach, which is centred on the close-knit union between wood and wine. During ageing in French oak barrels, wines and brandies acquire the finishing touches to their character and reveal their full complexity. This is what we call a "perfect exchange". In order to achieve it, we use extremely rigorous methods at every stage of the crafting of our barrels and tanks.

Commercial team

Jean-Pierre GIRAUD
Jean-Pierre Giraud, Sales Director for the Chêne & Cie, is responsible for sales for the Taransaud, Jacques Garnier and Canton Cooperage. He is also in charge of Taransaud Beaune and the Director of Taransaud Australasia.
Jean-Pierre joined the Taransaud Cooperage in June 1976. At the time, the company was a small cooperage run by Jean Taransaud, and owned by Hennessy. It produced only brandy barrels, mainly for the mother company. In 1978, Jean-Pierre created and developed the Commercial Department and the export activity, sending the first Taransaud wine barrels to Chile and California. Export represents today 60 % of the sales.

Jean-Pierre is a wine expert and participates in many professional tastings.

Bruno REMY
Bruno Rémy was born in 1964 and joined the Taransaud sales team in November 2000, as Assistant Sales Director, with the aim of developing two areas: sales of all Group products in Italy (Taransaud's second largest export market) and monitoring of sales activity in the large containers sector, which is developing very rapidly at Taransaud.
Bruno is based in Uzs.
He tells us about his career : "I trained as an oenologist and got a degree from the University of Toulouse. I also took a course in technical sales at a Paris business school. When I had finished my studies, I decided to go abroad and worked for various Californian and Australian wineries for a year and a half. I was then recruited by a large French cooperage, where I worked for 11 years in sales in Europe and South Africa".

Frédéric AMIOT
Belonging to an old family of winemakers, was worn in 1968 in Chambolle Musigny. He is based in Beaune, Burgundy. He is also in charge of the Swiss market.
After a technical and commercial BTS degree, he specialized in viticulture and oenology and worked many years in the field of vine equipment.
Frédéric joined Taransaud in Septembre 2002.
"I belong to the wine family and wine has naturally become a passion ; I participate in wine tastings with the « Groupe des Jeunes Professionnels de la Vigne ». I decided to join Taransaud because they give priority to quality and I know how important it is for winemakers, the family I come from."

He is a graduate of the Angers University of Agriculture, having majored in Sales and Marketing. After his studies, Romain started working in the wine world as Sales and Marketing Manager for a producer in the Touraine region. He then joined a major French importer of foreign wines in order to develop new sales techniques.
"My passion for wine has also led me to follow a training course as a wine waiter in order to gain an insight into the mysteries of wine".

Emmanuel JOURNU
Emmanuel Journu was born in 1972 and joined the Chêne Group on February 1st, 1999 as Product Manager at the Jacques Garnier Cooperage. He developed sales in Europe of Canton's American oak barrels then those of Jacques Garnier's new Alpha barrels (which is a mix of French and Central European oak).

Emmanuel, who was the first salesman to join Jean-Pierre Giraud and form the current team, is today Sales Director for the West area of France and for Chile, Argentina, Spain and Portugal, for all Chêne & Cie brands (Taransaud, Jacques Garnier and Canton).

Jean Michel SERRES
Jean Michel SERRES was born in 1965 and joined the Taransaud's Commercial Team in December 2003.
After a successful experience in the wine trade in France, Jean-Michel wanted to better know the wine world techniques. Stephan von Neipperg, owner of Canon la Gaffelière and La Mondotte, offered him this opportunity. With the support of Stéphane Derenoncourt, Jean-Michel became responsible for vinification at La Mondotte during 7 vintages.

Jean-Michel Serres then joined Taransaud to keep in line with his aim to develop his knowledge and experience.

After a cooperage training during which Jean-Michel learnt how to make his own barrel, he can now provide Taransaud's, Jacques Garnier's and Canton's customers with his technical know-how and great tasting experience, being in charge of the regions of Saint-Emilion, Bourg, Blaye and Loire area.

Frédéric GIL

Frédéric GIL, born in 1975, joined our sales team in 2007. He explains his professional background:

"I majored in science at school and went on to university where I got a Master in Biology (Bordeaux University) based on a central theme of viticulture. My objective was to get a solid foundation in this sector before applying to the Bordeaux Faculty of Oenology. Once I obtained my oenology diploma I went to Vina Montes (one of the leading wine producers in Chile) to gain experience as a wine maker and practice my Spanish. This also gave me a fascinating insight into other grape varieties which are not, or very rarely, seen in Bordeaux: Syrah, Carmenere, Riesling and Chardonnay."

Frederic went on to become sales manager of a cooperage in the Bordeaux region for 5 years, where he was responsible for the French, Italian and Spanish markets. Our clients in Cognac, South-West France, Languedoc-Roussillon and Spain will henceforth benefit from his expertise in oenology and solid experience in barrel making.
