Taransaud Tonnellerie
Patience, rigour and respect are the hallmarks of the TARANSAUD cooperage approach, which is centred on the close-knit union between wood and wine. During ageing in French oak barrels, wines and brandies acquire the finishing touches to their character and reveal their full complexity. This is what we call a "perfect exchange". In order to achieve it, we use extremely rigorous methods at every stage of the crafting of our barrels and tanks.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

Since its creation, Tonnellerie TARANSAUD has ensured the handing down of traditional cooperage techniques through its apprenticeship program.

TARANSAUD is the founder of the Cooperage School on the site of Merpins. The school now belongs to the Chamber of Trade in Cognac but TARANSAUD has kept the school premises to welcome every year some apprentices who study the art of coopering for two years.

These young coopers learn to use hand tools and how to make barrels the old-fashioned way. They are trained by a Master Cooper who has been awarded « Meilleur Ouvrier de France ».

The best apprentices become part of the TARANSAUD team.
