Patience, rigour and respect are the hallmarks of the TARANSAUD cooperage approach, which is centred on the close-knit union between wood and wine. During ageing in French oak barrels, wines and brandies acquire the finishing touches to their character and reveal their full complexity. This is what we call a "perfect exchange". In order to achieve it, we use extremely rigorous methods at every stage of the crafting of our barrels and tanks.

Wood origin
Taransaud works exclusively with French oak, which origin is attested by Bureau Veritas. Oak is a unique wood, hard, impermeable, and rich in noble aromas and delicate flavors
The trees are cut down when they are about 150 years old and often more.
Our wood buyers are specialists in oak.

They select specific trees on site in the finest French forests which are managed by ONF, « Office National des Forêts», ensuring our complete control over the origin and traceability of the wood.
Only the best trees meet our quality standards.

Once the logs have been chosen, they are transported to our splitting mills to be transformed first into balks and then into boards.
We use lasers to optimize wood-splitting in a technique that was developed to meet our specific requirements.
