Patience, rigour and respect are the hallmarks of the TARANSAUD cooperage approach, which is centred on the close-knit union between wood and wine. During ageing in French oak barrels, wines and brandies acquire the finishing touches to their character and reveal their full complexity. This is what we call a "perfect exchange". In order to achieve it, we use extremely rigorous methods at every stage of the crafting of our barrels and tanks.

This contest awards a diploma of excellence, every three years, to men and women expressing their talent in their field of activity. For the year 2004, 298 candidates have been awarded out of over 2,600 registered, which shows the level of skill and knowledge of this contest.

Each candidate has to realise a unique piece of work called "masterpiece", which must respect guidelines and specific data imposed by the Contest's Commission. In the category of cooperage, such masterpiece means 600 working hours taken out of the candidates "hobby time".

The level of excellence of this contest is honoured during an official award ceremony organized in the Palais de L'Elysée in Paris, France.
